Habitat Conservation
Cari Croft
LPHCP Administrator
The main goals of habitat conservation are to protect and restore the natural environment to support biodiversity,
ensure the survival and recovery of threatened species (Houston Toad), maintain healthy ecosystems (like forests), and
build resilience in wildlife communities against threats like climate change, pollution, and development. This involves
creating connectivity between habitats, managing land sustainably, and balancing human activities with ecological
needs, often through plans like Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs).
